The Jain Bhawan provides numerous benefits to the San Francisco Bay Area community for religious, cultural and social activities. It addresses the needs of the present and future generations by providing a forum where they can interact, have discourse on the Jain religion, network and socialize with their peers and discuss their heritage. It accommodates the interests of senior citizens to enable them to carry on their traditions. Thus, the Jain Bhawan is a Center for all groups, for all Jains.

Religious Activities:

Jain Bhawan provides a very spacious temple and Bhakti Room on the second floor of the building. The two sections together have a floor area of approximately 6,000 square feet. The key benefits of Jain Bhawan's religious area are as follows:

1. Increased number of discourses, meditation and sermons with visiting monks
    and scholars.

2. Special Pujas on auspicious and personal family occasions with a priest to assist
    in all rituals.

3. Equal rights to all recognized Jain sects - Shwetambar, Digambar, Sthanakwasi,
    and Terapanthi; and Srimad Rajchandra Ji's followers.

4. Facilities for all Jains to conduct their worship in their preferred way.
5. Display of Pratimas, pictures Chitrapats etc. of Jain Tirthankaras, Devi/Devtas,
    Ganadhars,Srimad Rajchandra Ji,Brahamchari Ji and Prabhushree Ji,as specified
    in JCNC Operating Policies / Guidelines.

6. Space reservation for Pujas and worship and Bhakti ceremonies will be on first-
    come-first-serve basis. JCNC sponsored activities will always have priority over
    other space requirements.

Social-Cultural-Educational Activities:

Jain Bhawan community section is on the first floor of the building covering approximately 18,000 square feet of floor area. It provides a large auditorium, a spacious kitchen and a large dining hall. Some of the activities for which Jain Bhawan's community area will be utilized are:

1.Regularly scheduled seminars and lectures.
2.Education classes and Swaddhyayas for all age groups.
3.Meditation and Yoga classes.
4.Senior citizen services.
5.Activities for the next generations (BAJA and YJA) - seminars,camps,social
   meetings,cultural events etc.

6.Health care and medical services.

Jain Society of Greater Detroit

Rising from a small, dedicated group of about 50 families in 1975, the strength of our society has risen significantly close to 400 members today. Since 1975, every year society activities have been significantly increasing and attained several milestones including celebration of Pratishtha and opening of a new temple in 1998.

Jain Center of Greater Boston - Overview
Established: 1973 The Jain Center of Greater Boston was the first Jain Center of its kind in North America when it was established in 1973. Ever since then, the center has played a pivotal and pioneering role in advancing Jain thought and Philosophy in North America and strengthening the roots of the Jain community in the region.

Leadership role among Jain Centers
This trend and track record of innovative ideas and leadership roles has earned the center the reputation of an elite organization and community much in resemblance to the Boston area itself. The center has grown exponentially since its early days and now comprises about three hundred well tethered and enlightened Jain families, including children, youth, adults and seniors.

Pioneering and Intellectual Thinking In the past the center has taken some pioneering projects and continued them efficiently. The North American Jain Directory is a long proven example of the same. Community awareness, involvement and activities have continued to attract the best and the most devoted social workers to the center.

Well Tethered Society
Social, religious and cultural awareness In a well organized and structured manner, the center now continues to provide intellectual leadership to the Jain community in the North American region.

Did You Know?
The first gathering of the Jain Community of Boston area took place in the year 1973 as a first step in forming the Jain Center Organization.

Jain Center of Greater Boston was the first center to put together Jain Directory in the year 1979 in U.S.

Jain Center of Greater Boston was the first center to perform Dance Drama based on Jain Story Nem Rajul in U.S.

Jain Center moved to it's current place in Norwood, MA in the year 1981. The first Pathshala Convention in U. S. was held in Boston during the year 1999.
